How to find your CS 1.6 demo and screenshots and upload them to Google Drive
Updated 2026-09-25
Were you banned and want to send an unban appeal? The best proof is your demo and the screenshots taken during the check. This guide shows where Counter-Strike 1.6 keeps these files and how to upload them to Google Drive so the admins can open them.
1. Open the cstrike folder
Both demos and screenshots are saved in the cstrike folder of the game.
- Steam version: in your Steam library right-click Counter-Strike → Manage → Browse local files,
then open
cstrike. Usually it isC:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\cstrike - Non-Steam version: open the folder where the game is installed (the one with
hl.exe) and go tocstrike.
Tip: switch the folder to the Details view and sort by Date modified - the newest files will be on top.
2. Find the screenshots (.bmp)
When an admin checks a player on our server, the game takes screenshots on the player's own PC with the
snapshot command. On every picture you see the time and the nick of the admin who checked you.
- They are .bmp files in the
cstrikefolder, named after the map:de_dust20000.bmp,de_dust20001.bmpand so on. - Pick the files with the date and time of your ban.
- Screenshots you made yourself with F5 are saved the same way. Steam overlay screenshots (F12) are in
Steam\userdata\<your id>\760\remote\10\screenshotsas .jpg.
You do not need to convert anything: the appeal form accepts BMP, JPG, PNG and WEBP (up to 16 MB each). You can attach them directly to the appeal - Google Drive is only needed for the demo.
3. Find or record the demo (.dem)
A demo is a recording of everything you saw in the game. Admins can watch it and see if you used cheats (wallhack, aimbot and so on).
Automatic demo on Balagun
When you join our server, the game starts recording a demo automatically: the file all_inclusive.dem in the
cstrike folder.
Important: this file is overwritten every time you join the server or the map changes. Copy it to another folder (for example the Desktop) right after the ban, before you try to connect again.
Record a demo yourself
- Open the console with the ~ key (enable it in Options → Keyboard → Advanced → "Enable developer console").
- Type
record mydemoand press Enter - recording starts. - Type
stopto finish. The filemydemo.demappears incstrike. - To watch it:
playdemo mydemoorviewdemo mydemo(with pause and speed controls).
Demos can be 10-100 MB. If the file is big, you can pack it into a ZIP first (right-click → Send to → Compressed folder) - it becomes several times smaller.
4. Upload to Google Drive and copy the link
- Open drive.google.com and log in with your Google account.
- Press + New → File upload and choose the
.demfile (or the ZIP). You can also drag the file into the browser window. - Wait until the upload finishes (see the progress window in the bottom right corner).
- Right-click the file → Share → Share.
- Under General access change "Restricted" to "Anyone with the link", role Viewer.
- Press Copy link. The link looks like
https://drive.google.com/file/d/.../view?usp=sharing.
No Google account? Dropbox, Mega, OneDrive or Yandex Disk work the same way - just make sure the link opens without logging in.
Do not delete the file until the admins have answered your appeal.
5. Add everything to the appeal
- Log in on the site and make sure your SteamID is saved in My account.
- Open Unban and press Appeal next to your ban.
- Explain calmly what happened, paste the Google Drive link into Link to your demo and attach the .bmp screenshots.
- Send the appeal and check the page from time to time - the admins answer right there.
Checklist before sending: the link opens in a private browser window • the demo is from the time of the ban • the screenshots show the date and time of the check.
